Kathryn Crestani is the Enterprise Biosolids and Residuals Superintendent at Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD). She directly oversees the transformation of 430 wet tons/day of biosolids into 10 million kwh annually and 130 dry tons per day of ash that is recycled into soil blend for the local landscaping market. Ms. Crestani is a founding member of the NEORSD Women’s Employee Resource Group and is in her second year as an Employee Partner with the Good Neighbor Ambassador Program.
Kathryn holds a Class IV Professional Wastewater Treatment Operator certification from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Her educational background includes an MBA from Cleveland State University (Concentration in Operations and Supply Chain Management) and a BS in Biology from Kent State University.
In her previous work, Ms. Crestani was the Pretreatment Program Coordinator for all three of NEORSD’s wastewater treatment facilities. She was also an environmental consultant and a laboratory manager.
Kathryn is a recipient of the Northeast Ohio Section of the Water Environment Federation’s 2018-2019 Merrill L. Riehl Education Award, recognizing her contributions to the educational and professional advancement of wastewater treatment plant operators. She was recognized in 2017 as a YWCA Woman of Professional Excellence.
Kathryn is President of the Board of Directors for the JD Breast Cancer Foundation, an organization that provides a safety net for people in treatment for breast cancer who are experiencing financial distress.
Ms. Crestani also enjoys running 5Ks, although her two cross-country, track-and field–running children like to say “Mom, please don’t call that running. You’re JOGGING.”
